They have the great recitation of Sheik Hassan Saleh.

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

Yeah Doa, I work as a reporter at the Journal News, so I know the Mount Vernon and Yonkers masjids really well :)

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

Definitely an awesome idea. It's also a way to encourage people to step out of their comfort zone and go to new mosques even if they're predominantly a different race than you. Also, subhanAllah that observation about the youth missing in the mosque made me sad...but then I'm alhamdulillah glad you mentioned it cuz its a wake up call insha Allah. We have to get the youth involved in things and set up youth programs at our masajid! it would be awesome if you could continue to do this, maybe once a month for jumu'ah or something, or just continue it next Ramadan so that you can actually cover all the masajid in NYC. Hey if it's not too much of a hassle, could you also come to Mt. Vernon Masjid and/or Andalusia mosque/school in Yonkers (It's not too far from samosa cabana! :) )
jazakumAllah khair for doing this, may Allah swt increase you.

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

hey this is a great idea. but please take some female friends with you and write about the women's areas too. I really wanna see and read the observations!

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

Love the idea... Keep up... One suggestion por favor? Can you also mention in your reviews the Tarweeh prayer - 8 Rakat or 20? Slow recitation or lightning fast?, etc.. You guys got the food and location info locked down but i'd also like to know about the actual praying. Jazak Allah Khair

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

Very well done.

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

salaamu alaikum fellas- you should come to this small masjid in my hood deep in brooklyn, its called Masjid Tawhid, you can get there off of the J Train to Gates avenue and then walk up to Ralph and Putnam i think, all west african, the vibe is real intimate but super inviting.

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

It's very interesting to see different Masajid, I wish I could join too :)
Hope in this journey you guys are not losing time of doing ibadah.

Re: 30 Mosques in 30 Days : Day 7: Al-Iman Mosque

Thank you so much for including the sentence on sister's accommodations at this masjid! There are of course half a dozen Bdeshi and Egyptian masjids as well in the same neighborhood.
